  • Redefinition of the 3 axes :
    Cognitive psychology, ergonomics and anthropocentric design;
    Cognitive neuroscience and neuroergonomics for travel analysis;
    Social psychology, sociology and inequalities

  • Definition of 5 research priorities
    Objectivise the effects of the driver's internal states and improve the perception of vulnerable road users; Modelling activity, supervising the driver and simulating Human-Computer Interaction; Improving the mobility and independence of the elderly and disabled; Supporting the automation of tomorrow's vehicles; Imagining new forms of innovative HMI.

  • A great deal of work has been carried out to position the research unit in the national and European research landscape and to build and maintain scientific partnerships by running networks. Through the creation and management of the HUMANIST Network of Excellence, LESCOT has acquired a recognised European position in the field of transport research.
    For a more detailed analysis of driving activity, both on open roads and on protected sites, the use of instrumented vehicles is preferred. However, certain experimental contexts require the use of mini-driving simulators (developed, maintained and managed in collaboration with LEPSIS).

  • Creation of the HUMANIST network of excellence
    LESCOT has demonstrated the relevance of developing research into attention deficits while driving and has succeeded in federating a French community on this issue. It has also helped to promote an anthropocentric approach to the design of technical aids in the field of transport at European and French level, whether these are intended for drivers or disabled users of public transport. LESCOT has been a driving force in the design of driving aids based on adaptive and integrative technologies.

  • Development of research into attention deficits and a new anthropocentric approach
    Still focusing on the theme of people on the move, the laboratory continues to take an interest in people in all their states: young, old, with no specific difficulty or disorder, with a disability or pathology linked to ageing, and in different travel contexts: at the wheel, on public transport, on motorised two-wheelers, as pedestrians. The preferred angle of attack is the analysis of the individual's activity while on the move, using approaches from the cognitive sciences (Psycho-ergo, Neuroscience, Ergonomics, Cognitive Psychology, etc.). The main aim of the research is to promote safe, secure and sustainable mobility for all individuals. The research focuses on how mobility works and the malfunctions that can occur during interactions between people and their environment, with a view to proposing solutions to remedy the situation.

  • Change of name LESCOT
    LESCO was replaced by LESCOT - Laboratoire Ergonomie et Sciences COgnitives pour les Transports (Ergonomics and Cognitive Sciences for Transport Laboratory), this change in the laboratory's name reflecting perfectly the evolution of its research activity during this period. Analysis of human functional capacities in transport situations, initially focused on motor disabilities, has evolved to take into account perceptive or cognitive deficiencies linked to age and certain pathologies.

  • Creation of LESCO
    The Ergonomics, Health and Comfort Laboratory was created on the initiative of staff from ONSER and IRT, which had merged to form INRETS.
